Our Mission

Reaching the Unreached

PMF missionaries are going where there are no roads, traveling in dugout canoes on the rivers and tributaries of the Darien province of Panama.

Vince and Gretta Payne began ministering in Panama in 1995 and, since its founding in 2007, PMF missionaries have traveled deep into the rainforests of the Darien and Panama provinces to preach the Gospel, disciple new believers, and train Christian leaders.

Panama Mission Foundation is a 501(c)(3) approved Christian ministry.

The Big Picture

From American Supporters to Panamanian Villages

The Gospel and the funding that carries it begin with supporters across the United States. Every gift lands in Panama, then moves outward, village by village, planting churches and training pastors among the Wounaan and Emberá people.

Why We Go

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16

In these verses, Jesus commands the apostles to take the Gospel across the face of the earth to all nations. This monumental task was not completed during their lifetime but the apostles prepared others to continue the work and left for us a pattern to follow (2 Timothy 2:2; Philippians 4:9).

Evangelism is the primary responsibility of the body of Christ. We are duty-bound to take the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. This work must continue until our Lord Jesus returns. As we move forward in obedience to our Lord Jesus, He promises to be with us to the very end of the age.

Our ministry model is based upon these verses and these principles.

Our Ministry Model

Preach. Disciple. Send. Repeat.

The pattern Jesus gave His church, carried out village by village across the Darien Province.

Preach

PMF missionaries travel by boat to remote rainforest villages of the Darien province, home to the Wounaan, Emberá, and Guna peoples, carrying a clear message: Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Acts 4:12 | John 14:6

Disciple

New believers are discipled at every level, from the first steps of faith to full leadership training. Through biblical studies and the work of the Holy Spirit, faithful men are prepared to evangelize, to shepherd, to disciple believers and to train others to do the same.

2 Timothy 2:2

Send

Trained leaders are sent out to preach the Gospel, plant new churches, disciple believers, and raise up the next generation of leaders. Paul asked, “And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” The body of Christ must send missionaries out to fulfill the Great Commission. Preachers must be trained and preachers must be sent.

Romans 10:15

Repeat

Steps 1 through 3 are repeated indefinitely, until our Lord Jesus returns. The task is enormous but the instructions are simple: Preach. Disciple. Send. Repeat. To God be the glory!
